Association youth striking competition results
2017 Youth Striking Competition
Eighteen young ringers from across the Association came to Dunkerton for an afternoon of ringing. Chew Branch were able to send a whole team, but Axbridge, Ilchester, Cary and Taunton cheerfully joined forces to help make up enough. We also had a boys' team, a girls' team, a Cambridge band, a Plain Bob band, etc, so that everyone was able to ring at least twice. Thankfully time ran out before the "old people's" team could take part! Everyone managed the lovely little bells without a problem and we had some very creditable ringing.
After the ringing we went to the tiny village hall for tea and results. Jenny Cornwell's dumb bell was there with its mackintosh on for everyone to have a go on.
If you were one of the young ringers there, don't forget that you can add six points to your Young Ringer's Competition score, just for being there!
Special thanks to chauffeurs, cake bakers, certificate writers, and the people of Dunkerton.
The results: Axbridge/Taunton were 1st, Chew 2nd and Bath/Cary/Ilchester 3rd. H.B.
